Privacy and learning accounts
Learning without an account is available. Completed lesson IDs and preferences are stored in your browser. Each lesson’s guest machine is temporary; switching lessons, resetting, reloading, or signing in discards its files and running terminal.
Optional accounts
When accounts are enabled, Google verifies your sign-in. Certuvia stores an internal account ID, display name, Google’s stable identity and email verification provenance, session records, and completed lesson IDs. Google access, refresh, and ID tokens are not retained. Email reported by Google is not an email login or recovery credential.
Completed lesson history syncs across devices. Anonymous browser history transfers only after you choose import. Certuvia does not upload terminal transcripts, commands, guest files, quiz answers, ticket scores, or hints as part of account synchronization.
Storage and deletion
Account data is retained while your account exists. You can delete your account from the account menu after authenticating again. This removes active account data, identities, sessions, and synced history. Account caches on other devices may remain in browser storage; they are scoped to the deleted account ID and will not transfer to another account. You can remove browser data through your browser’s site-data settings.
Encrypted database backups are kept on the hosting server and the operator’s computer: seven daily copies and four weekly copies on each. Rotation follows successful backup or synchronization. If the computer is offline, its older copies remain until synchronization succeeds. Deleted account data may remain in these retained backups. Deletion records containing only the internal ID and deletion time are retained indefinitely and replayed before a restored service accepts accounts, to prevent deleted accounts from returning.
Cookies and service providers
Essential HttpOnly cookies maintain sign-in sessions and protect login requests. Sessions expire after seven days without activity or thirty days from sign-in. Google receives authentication requests and applies its own privacy policy. Certuvia’s public content uses the site operator’s Umami analytics; account API, callback, failure, and this privacy page do not load analytics scripts. Account responses are not publicly cached. External profile images are not loaded.
Without another login method, recovering your account requires recovering access to Google. Completed lessons are self-reported learning history, not verified examination results.
